Annual conference of the UfM working group on Gas, Emissions Abatement and Hydrogen
On 16 December 2025, the Organisation Méditerranéenne de l’Énergie et du Climat (OMEC) organised the Annual Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean Working Group on Gas, Emissions Abatement and Hydrogen, with the support of the European Commission, at Le Meurice Hotel in Paris.
The conference brought together policymakers, industry representatives, and institutional stakeholders from across the Mediterranean region to discuss the role of gaseous fuels in balancing energy security, sustainability, and affordability. Around 70 participants, attending both in person and online, contributed to discussions on regional cooperation, energy system resilience, and the pathways needed to support the Mediterranean energy transition.
Discussions highlighted the importance of gaseous fuels in providing system flexibility, supporting industrial competitiveness, and enabling decarbonisation, while making use of existing infrastructure. The event concluded with reflections on future priorities for the Working Group and the investments required to support the region’s transition.
