OMEC at Geodays 2026 – The Business Convention for Subsurface Industries at the Heart of Territories and the Energy Transition, taking place on 16–17 June 2026 in Pau.

On 16 June, OMEC Director General intervened in the Euro / Med Sequence session titled “What energy and decarbonization strategies for Mediterranean regions: current situation and prospects, what role for underground industries?” in the framework of Geodays 2026 in Pau.

The roundtable gathered representatives from European institutions, industry associations, energy companies, and regional stakeholders to explore the evolving energy landscape in the Mediterranean region. Discussions focused on decarbonisation pathways, energy security, infrastructure development, and the role of underground industries in supporting the energy transition. Particular attention was given to the contribution of natural gas, hydrogen, energy storage, and geo-resources in enabling a secure, competitive, and sustainable energy future.

The session provided a rich exchange on the challenges and opportunities shaping the Mediterranean energy transition.

OMEC extends its sincere thanks to the Geodays team for the invitation and to all speakers and participants for the rich and insightful exchanges.
