Toward Sustainable Deployment Serving the Economy, the Climate, and Regional Industry
This study conducted with the support of EDF assesses the potential role of nuclear energy in the Mediterranean energy transition to 2050. It maps national nuclear strategies across the region, tests the system impact of strengthened nuclear pathways within the Mediterranean Energy Model, and evaluates implications for energy security, power system adequacy, emissions, investments, and industrial development. It also identifies the key conditions required for a sustainable deployment, covering governance and safety, financing and bankability, social acceptance, and fuel cycle and waste management.
