OMEC Green Energy Technologies Committee Meeting
On 17 June 2026, OMEC held an online meeting of its Green Energy Technologies Committee to review ongoing work and define priorities for the coming years. Members endorsed Step II of the Sustainable Mobility study on decarbonising the road transport sector, examined preliminary findings from the analysis of NDC 3.0 commitments in the Mediterranean, and received updates on the forthcoming Mediterranean Energy Review and ongoing EU funded projects. In particular, they were informed about the new webinar of MSA-Trough on “Ecodesign concepts in CSP manufacturing for increased environmental and economic competitiveness – Insights from the MSA-Trough” that will be held on 7 July (webinar details). In addition, they were updated about the recent kick-off meeting of the FREECOOL (Passive radiative electricity-FREE COOLing paints for energy sustainability in building and cold chain applications) project and next steps. The Committee also identified energy storage, smart grids and renewable energy integration as key areas of focus and agreed to organise a dedicated event on energy storage and grid integration before the end of 2026.
