OMEC launch of MEP 2023 at COP 28
OMEC’s flagship publication, Mediterranean Energy Perspectives 2023 edition – MEP 2023, was officially launched at COP 28, on Saturday 2nd 2023 at the IFDD Pavilion by OMEC President, Lapo Pistelli, OMEC General Director Houda Ben Jannet alongside Kamel Bennaceur, CEO Nomadia Energy and Alberto Biancardi, Director of studies, GSE. The event was hosted by Cécile Martin Phipps, Director Francophonie Institute for Sustainable Development.
Lisa Guarrera, Director of OMEC’s Modeling & Monitoring division, presented the MEP 2023 scenarios to 2050, including the net-zero scenario co-funded by the European Union. The panel discussed the trajectories and technologies to be deployed in the Mediterranean basin to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and the importance of regional cooperation in this perspective.
