OMEC to Join High-Level EMGF Strategic Event in Athens
On 7 October 2026, OMEC will join the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) High-Level Strategic Event in Athens, held in partnership with HELLENiQ Energy. Sohbet Karbuz, OMEC’s Director of the Natural Resources and Energy Security Division, will represent the organization.
Titled “Accelerating the Eastern Mediterranean as an Energy Corridor Focusing on Security of Supply,” the event brings together ministers, ambassadors and senior officials from EMGF member countries and observers, HELLENiQ Energy’s executive leadership, the EMGF Secretariat, representatives of the Gas Industry Advisory Committee, infrastructure developers, investors, financial institutions, and European energy associations.
The gathering will address how to turn the Eastern Mediterranean’s dispersed gas resources, infrastructure plans, and national strategies into a coherent, investable regional energy corridor. Discussions will focus on regional energy security and resilience, priority cross-border infrastructure projects, the conditions needed to unlock Final Investment Decisions, and a shortlist of actionable initiatives to be carried forward under EMGF coordination.
